AHMED RAFIQ
“Whenever there was a wedding in the village, the Baarat would come and stay overnight. Later, when something got messed up, everyone tried to kill each other.”
Ahmed Rafiq is our co-founder Ameena’s maternal grandfather. Born in Fattuwal, a small village near Hoshiarpur, Ahmed fondly remembers studying at Nandachaur Middle School, where he would have to walk 8 miles every day to and from school. Ahmed worked in the military in British India before Partition, often garrisoned near the Jama Masjid in Delhi. After 1947, he and his family migrated to Lahore.
