KHALID BASHIR KHAN RAI
You reminded me of my childhood. Every single place … I do not recognise now – things have changed. I do recognise the Masjid, the durbar of Shah Hussain.
Khalid Bashir Rai descends from a branch of the Jaisal Rajputs who trace their linage down to Tulsi, who converted to Islam – he’s even got a family diagram tracing back all the way to their roots in Jaisalmer. He grew up near the Punjab border, in a small village called Kasbah Bhural, and was only 7 at the time of Partition. His little brother was born on the day of Partition, when the family migrated to Lahore.
